Amman, March 15 (Petra) -- Security officials have released details about a confrontation that broke out at a mosque in Amman's Muqableen district Friday evening.

What began as a verbal disagreement between the imam and a worshipper quickly escalated when the worshipper's family members arrived at the scene. According to the imam's statement, these individuals physically assaulted him and others present at the mosque.

After reviewing security camera footage, authorities have identified and detained all those involved. Security officials clarified that despite the imam's claims in a circulated video, the individuals were simply regular worshippers with no ties to any organized groups or movements.

"Our investigation, including analysis of surveillance footage, confirms these were ordinary mosque attendees, not members of any organization as initially suggested," said the Public Security spokesperson.

All suspects are currently in custody as investigators prepare to hand the case over to the judiciary.
