18/ NCSC handles 1,457 cyber incidents in last quarter 2024

Amman, Mar. 16 (Petra) - The number of cyber incidents during the last quarter of last year reached 1,457, of which 1% were classified as "serious," 9% others were low-risk, and 90% were medium-risk.

The figures came in the Cybersecurity Posture Report for the 4th quarter of 2024, released by the National Cybersecurity Center (NCSC) on Sunday on its official website.

The report noted serious incidents decreased by 51%, compared to the third quarter of 2024, and no "high-risk" cases were recorded in the 4th quarter of last year.

The report also provided statistics on government-wide vulnerability and penetration testing, as the vulnerabilities detected on the main websites of 115 government institutions were classified as 7% severe risk, 35% as high risk, and 58% as medium risk.

Meanwhile, 10% of Jordan's institutions were found to have critical vulnerabilities, and 35% were found to have high risk shorcomings.

According to the report, the last quarter of 2024 witnessed some challenges in the national cyber threat landscape, which saw an increase in ransomware attacks, cyber threats driven by regional conflicts, and hacking operations aimed at spreading misinformation and influencing public opinion in the kingdom.

To tackle vulnerabilities, the report underlined the need to strengthen Jordan's cybersecurity measures and cooperate with local and international institutions to mitigate impact of cyber threats and related activities.
