19/ House committee condemns Israel's fresh atrocities in Gaza

Amman, Mar. 18 (Petra) – Lower House Palestine Committee condemned resumption of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which killed several children, women, and elderly people.

During its meeting on Tuesday, chaired by MP Suleiman Soud, with Secretary-General of the Committee for Jerusalem Affairs (RCJA) Abdullah Kanaan, the committee called on Israel to abide by terms of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement, urging the international community to "urgently" intervene to protect civilians.

Soud said the Israeli occupation continues its aggressive policies, which breach all international resolutions and humanitarian agreements, and is waging a genocidal war against Palestinians.

Soud warned of the catastrophic humanitarian repercussions of the continued aggression on Gaza, calling on international parliaments to take "firm" positions to pressure their governments to halt Israeli violations.

Meanwhile, the committee members affirmed Jordan's continued "firm" role in defending the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites, referring to Hashemite custodianship over them.

The MPS also noted Jordan's steps in providing humanitarian support to the Palestinians, highlighting endeavors of the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) in delivering aid to the strip.

Kanaan affirmed the strength of Jordan's position, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, in supporting the Palestinian cause, underlining importance of the Hashemite custodianship over Jerusalem's sanctities.

Noting Israel's continued aggressive policies, he recalled previous massacres, including the 2014 aggression on Gaza, adding that Israel is harnessing silence of the international community to continue its crimes against the Palestinians.
