  36/ Police Warn of Foreign-Operated Fake Accounts Inciting Discord

Amman, March 18 (Petra) -- Law enforcement has reiterated advisories cautioning against engagement with fabricated social media profiles specifically designed to provoke sectarian discord and ethnic antagonism.

The Public Security Directorate's spokesperson confirmed that the Cybercrime Unit is actively engaged in monitoring and countering these malicious online accounts, operated by individuals across multiple jurisdictions, in close coordination with the Public Prosecutor's Office.

Authorities have identified and are prosecuting individuals within Jordan who have amplified this disinformation through engagement, including comments and reshares.

Law enforcement officials reiterated a strict policy of prosecution for any actions intended to incite social unrest, undermine national unity, or propagate hate speech against any segment of Jordanian society.

The public is strongly cautioned against any interaction with these accounts, including following, sharing, or commenting, to avoid potential legal ramifications and to prevent the dissemination of harmful propaganda.

The Public Security Directorate expressed confidence in the public's vigilance and commitment to national security, relying on citizens to actively report and counter attempts to destabilize the country through divisive online activities.
