  37/ Delegation from Germany's KfW checks on projects in Irbid's Bani Ubaid municipality

Irbid, March 18 (Petra) – A delegation from the German Development Bank (KfW), led by Assia Al Dhabbi, visited several development projects in the Bani Ubaid Municipality on Tuesday.

The visit included a tour of the Family Park Project with Bani Ubaid Mayor Jamal Abu Ubaid, where the delegation received a briefing from Project Director Rola Massad on the operational plan for the park.

Family Park Project: A Community Hub

Massad highlighted that the park will provide diverse services to the community, including Green spaces and recreational facilities for families, educational areas, a marketplace for women entrepreneurs to showcase their products, and a children’s club.

Al Dhabbi expressed her admiration for the project’s progress and reaffirmed KfW’s commitment to supporting development initiatives that enhance local communities' quality of life.

ILO’s Support for Job Creation

International Labour Organization (ILO) Representative Shalendra Jha praised the municipality’s efforts, emphasizing the importance of creating job opportunities for youth and women in the area.

Mayor’s Appreciation & Small Business Development
Mayor Abu Ubaid thanked KfW and the ILO for their continued support, underscoring the project’s significance in addressing local needs.

The delegation also visited the Small Business Development Project, accompanied by Project Coordinator Heba Khasawneh. This initiative is implemented by the ILO in collaboration with the King Hussein Foundation, funded by the German government through KfW.

Women’s Empowerment & Entrepreneurship
Khasawneh expressed gratitude for the ILO’s support and the King Hussein Foundation’s efforts in delivering entrepreneurship training programs.

She explained that the training aims to empower women entrepreneurs, promote financial independence, and enhance marketing and business sustainability skills

Graduation Ceremony & Next Steps

Al Dhabbi and Mayor Abu Ubaid distributed certificates to 25 graduates of the first training phase. The second phase of the program, enrolling another 25 women, is set to begin on Wednesday.
