26/ FM, Bahraini Counterpart Discuss Ties, Sign MoU on Diplomatic Training
Manama, May 22 (Petra) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi held extensive talks on Thursday with Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, focusing on ways to bolster the deep-rooted fraternal relations between Jordan and Bahrain and addressing key regional developments. The talks covered efforts to enhance cooperation across various sectors in line with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The ministers reviewed the existing agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries and explored mechanisms to activate them in order to advance cooperation to broader and more comprehensive levels. Safadi reaffirmed Jordan’s pride in its close ties with Bahrain and expressed appreciation for Bahrain's care and support for Jordanian citizens residing and working in the Kingdom. The ministers also discussed regional developments, with particular focus on efforts to achieve a lasting ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, advance a prisoner exchange agreement, and ensure the timely and adequate delivery of humanitarian aid. They stressed that a just and comprehensive peace, based on the two-state solution, is essential to achieving regional security and stability, and called for a clear political horizon to realize this objective. On Syria, the two officials reiterated their support for efforts to rebuild the country on foundations that guarantee its unity, sovereignty, security, and stability, while safeguarding the rights of its people. The meeting also addressed Bahrain’s electronic and digital transformation initiatives, including the systems used, e-services provided by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and diplomatic training and human rights programs implemented under its National Human Rights Plan. The two sides agreed to institutionalize cooperation in these fields. Safadi and Al Zayani concluded the meeting by signing a memorandum of understanding between the Jordanian Diplomatic Institute and the Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies, aimed at enhancing collaboration in diplomatic training, research, and academic exchange. //Petra// AJ
