  50/ Agriculture Minister partakes in "Agriculture: Pulse of the Earth conference" in Lebanon

Amman, May 21 (Petra) – Minister of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat, on Wednesday took part via video conference in the "Agriculture: Pulse of the Earth" conference, organized by Lebanon’s Ministry of Agriculture and the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, under the patronage of Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun.

Speaking during a panel titled "Investments and Incentives for the Development of the Agricultural Sector," Hneifat presented Jordan’s leading experience in revitalizing its agricultural sector through the National Plan for Sustainable Agriculture 2022–2025.

He outlined key pillars of the plan, including modern agricultural extension services, expanded access to agricultural financing, improved marketing systems, rural development, women's empowerment, and the strengthening of agricultural cooperatives. He also emphasized support for water harvesting initiatives and afforestation projects.

Hneifat underscored the importance of enhancing agricultural value chains and maximizing the economic return on water usage, particularly in high-value and deficit-reducing crops.

The minister highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and Lebanon and stressed the need for continued cooperation in the agricultural field. He noted that such collaboration plays a vital role in sharing best practices and shaping joint agricultural policies that benefit farmers and rural communities in both countries.

In closing, Hneifat expressed Jordan’s readiness to share its technical and practical expertise in support of Lebanon’s efforts to revive its agricultural sector.

He emphasized that agriculture today stands as a cornerstone of food and national security, and that the conference aims to launch a major agricultural campaign one of Lebanon’s key national initiatives to revitalize the sector and enhance its role in ensuring food security and socio-economic development amid ongoing challenges.
