11/ Micro-Enterprise Establishment Project Wraps Up
Irbid, Nov. 27 (Petra) -- The King Hussein Foundation – Institute for Family Health concluded on Thursday the Micro-Enterprise Establishment project, implemented under the Employment Intensive Investment Program (EIIP) and Decent Employment in Jordan and funded by the International Labour Organization (ILO), during a ceremony held in Irbid. Irbid Governor Radwan Atoum, who patronized the event, stressed the importance of initiatives aimed at empowering women and enhancing their productive role. He commended the fruitful partnership between the King Hussein Foundation and the ILO, which has strengthened women’s participation in the local economy and stimulated entrepreneurship, positively impacting local communities. Director of the Institute for Local Community Development at the King Hussein Foundation Mohammad Zoubi presented the project’s key achievements, noting that the program aimed to improve access to the labor market for Jordanians and Syrians by equipping them with essential skills to establish small businesses, with a focus on self-employment and entrepreneurship in the governorates of Irbid and Mafraq. Zoubi said the project included training programs titled "Generate Your Business Idea" and "Start Your Business," using ILO-certified tools. The initiative resulted in the development of 103 business plans and the awarding of 70 seed grants worth JD100,000, in addition to more than 210 follow-up and mentoring sessions for beneficiaries. ILO representative Aya Kasasbeh affirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting economic empowerment programs and strengthening the capacities of Syrian and Jordanian women, highlighting that implementing the project in accordance with best practices ensures sustainable results that benefit families and local communities. A number of beneficiaries shared their experiences and success stories, expressing pride in the skills they gained during the training phases and their ability to transform their ideas into viable projects that provide sustainable income and economic stability. Certificates were distributed to participants who completed the training program and launched their own businesses, in a celebratory atmosphere during which attendees emphasized the importance of entrepreneurial work and its role in advancing economic and social development. //Petra// AO
