31/ Jordan Elected to Asia-Pacific Board of International Cooperative Alliance
Amman, Nov. 27 (Petra)-- Jordan, represented by the Cooperative Corporation, was elected on Thursday as a member of the Board of Directors of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) for the Asia and Pacific region becoming the first Arab country to win this seat since the alliance was founded in 1960. The election took place during the 17th Regional Assembly of the ICA Asia-Pacific, hosted this year in Sri Lanka. The Director General of the Cooperative Corporation, Abdul Fattah Al-Shalabi, participated in the meetings. Al-Shalabi said Jordan’s achievement reflects the Kingdom’s advanced standing in international forums under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, who has strengthened the foundations of global diplomatic relations, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. He added that the win is a "badge of honor and pride" for the Jordanian cooperative movement, which has demonstrated a strong global presence across various cooperative sectors. //Petra// MF
