34/ Zarqa University Rises in Arab Times Higher Education Rankings
Governorates, Nov. 29 (Petra) – Zarqa University achieved a new academic milestone, strengthening its position in the Arab higher education landscape after making significant progress in the Times Higher Education (THE) Arab Universities Ranking 2026. The advancement reflects the university’s commitment to a scientific vision that aligns with contemporary developments and responds to societal needs. According to the ranking released on Nov. 26, the university rose to 54th place among 372 classified Arab universities, up from the 121st position in the previous edition, surpassing many prestigious institutions in the region. Nationally, Zarqa University moved to fifth place among 21 classified Jordanian universities, up from twelfth previously. In the Research Environment indicator, Zarqa University ranked third among Jordanian universities, demonstrating its ability to provide a fertile research climate conducive to producing high-quality knowledge. It also achieved fifth place locally in Research Quality, reflecting the impact and weight of its published studies across various fields. The university strengthened its position in the International Outlook indicator, entering the top ten nationally, and excelled in other areas, including Teaching Quality, Industry, and Innovation, both locally and regionally. The university said in a statement that the increase in the number of classified Arab universities from 351 to 372 highlights the strength of its scientific and administrative system. THE Arab Universities Ranking is based on the global ranking methodology, adjusted to regional specificities, ensuring high reliability and providing a global benchmark for the university’s academic and research performance. President of Zarqa University, Nidal Al-Ramahi, stated that the university’s advancement reflects the robustness of its academic and research work, emphasizing continuous improvement in academic programs and the learning environment to serve students and researchers alike. Al-Ramahi highlighted that scientific research is a top priority, with support for researchers and graduate students, ensuring the production of impactful knowledge that contributes to societal development. He described the achievement as the result of integrated efforts across university councils, deanships, research centers, and students’ dedication, and confirmed the university’s ongoing strategic plan to enhance its international presence and expand partnerships with Arab and global universities and research centers.\ He stressed that Zarqa University will continue investing in campus development and modernizing educational technologies to reinforce its position as a regional model of quality, excellence, and innovation, calling the ranking achievement a strong motivator for further accomplishments in the coming years. Separately, Jadara University’s Deanship of Student Affairs, in cooperation with the Jerusalem-based Al-Ma’arif Association, organized a volunteer day to care for orphans under the "Jadara Imprint" initiative. The program is part of the university’s broader efforts to promote social responsibility and instill volunteerism values among students. The volunteer day included educational, recreational, and interactive activities that provided a joyful environment for orphans, nurtured their skills, and fostered positive interactions between students, volunteers, and the participating children.
