Amman, Nov. 30 (Petra) -- Jordanian exports to European Union countries rose by 39.3 percent during the first nine months of 2025, according to foreign trade data released by the Department of Statistics. Official figures show that the value of Jordanian exports to EU markets reached JD 436 million, compared to JD 313 million for the same period last year. Italy led EU destinations for Jordanian exports, totaling JD 141 million, up 261.5 percent from JD 39 million during the same period in 2024. Meanwhile, imports from EU countries increased by 9.7 percent, reaching JD 2.35 billion, compared to JD 2.143 billion last year. Germany was the top source of imports, with JD 502 million, up 2 percent from JD 492 million in 2024. The main Jordanian exports to the EU included clothing, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, chemical products, and selected agricultural goods. Imports from the EU comprised vehicles, industrial machinery and equipment, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, electrical and electronic equipment, and food products. Mohammad Samadi, a member of the European Chamber of Commerce in Jordan, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the marked growth in exports reflects the improved competitiveness of Jordanian products and their ability to penetrate new European markets. He said the European market remains a key avenue for Jordanian trade, with strong demand for products such as clothing, fertilizers, and chemical goods. Samadi noted that trade agreements with the EU have already yielded positive results for Jordan’s commercial and industrial sectors. Samadi emphasized that sustaining export growth requires continued support for national industries, enhancing competitiveness, and streamlining export procedures. He highlighted the significant increase in exports to Italy as a key indicator of Jordanian products’ expanding presence in European markets, particularly in fertilizers, chemicals, and apparel. He also noted the European Chamber of Commerce’s role in facilitating bilateral cooperation, organizing meetings between Jordanian and European businesses, providing technical and commercial guidance, and assisting companies in meeting European standards to access EU markets. //Petra// AJ
