31/ Huawei hosts smart education summit
Amman, November 30 (Petra) – Huawei, in cooperation with the Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN) and the Jordanian Universities Network (JONT), hosted the Smart Education Summit on Sunday to explore how AI can shape the future of education in the Middle East and beyond. The three-day summit showcased the latest global and regional trends in the digital transformation of education, highlighting emerging AI applications, national ICT infrastructure and regional experiences in digital inclusion and smart learning. Discussions focused on digital and smart education strategies, accelerating the adoption of AI in education, ASREN's vision for networks and cloud services, the comprehensive intelligence of digital and smart education systems and the key factors for success in building effective national research and education networks. Yang Ming, Director of Huawei's Jordan office, said the summit addressed ways to advance the digital education journey, underscoring the importance of creating a digital education ecosystem that leverages ICT to enhance education quality and foster innovation and talent. The President of the German Jordanian University and Director of the GONAT Network, Alaa Halhouli, noted that Huawei's strong support for university-level talent development has strengthened the research and education network. He added that this support has expanded opportunities for learning, innovation and the acquisition of modern skills such as cloud computing and AI which have become central to Jordanian university networks and a cornerstone of the economic modernisation vision. Director General of ASREN Yousef Tarman emphasised that scientific research remains one of the organisation's top priorities, adding that ASREN works through its network to elevate the quality of education to international standards. //Petra// AK
