33/ Justice Minister, U.S. envoy discuss expanding judicial, legal cooperation

Amman, Nov. 30 (Petra) – Minister of Justice Bassam Talhouni on Sunday discussed with U.S. Ambassador to Jordan Jim Holtsnider ways to strengthen cooperation across legal and judicial fields between the two friendly countries.

Talhouni reviewed avenues of joint cooperation and the agreements linking Jordan and the United States, stressing the importance of advancing the partnership in justice-related areas, particularly in strengthening judicial cooperation and ongoing joint programs.

He lauded the United States' active role in supporting Jordan’s justice sector, noting that this support aligns with the government’s comprehensive modernization vision under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

The two sides discussed opportunities to develop alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and expand the use of electronic tools within the judicial system to raise efficiency and improve service quality for citizens.

At the end of the meeting, attended by the Ministry’s Secretary-General for Judicial Affairs Judge Walid Kanakriyeh and Director of the International Cooperation Directorate Alia Assaf, both parties emphasized the need to maintain coordination and enhance judicial and legal cooperation in the interests of both countries and in support of their existing partnership.
