Amman, Oct. 7 (Petra) – Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ)'s Secretary-General, Sufyan Batayneh, inaugurated a workshop on "Enhancing Cybersecurity Awareness."

General Manager of Octopian Security, Mohammad Abdul Rahim, and a number of JWA officials and employees attended the event.

According to a WAJ statement on Tuesday, Batayneh said the workshop comes within the framework of implementing the agreement to qualify the Kingdom's water sector to meet cybersecurity requirements.

Batayneh noted the water sector is "key" that requires the "highest" levels of protection to ensure service continuity and data integrity, in line with the National Cybersecurity Framework, which constitutes a "fundamental" component of service sustainability and protection of vital infrastructure.

On other goals, Batayneh added that the event came amid increasing cyber challenges, which require strengthening national capabilities and building qualified personnel to deal with cyber risks and threats "efficiently and competently."

Batayneh underlined "commitment" to cooperating with "strategic" partners to achieve the "highest levels of cyber readiness" in the sector.

In turn, Abdul Rahim commended the WAJ's efforts to integrate a proactive approach to protecting vital infrastructure and strengthening Jordan's position as a "regional center of excellence" in this field.
