15/ Petra Delegation Highlights Media Exchange, Heritage on Kuwait Visit

Kuwait, Oct. 8 (Petra) -- As part of a regional media exchange initiative, a delegation from the Jordan News Agency (Petra) visited the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Tuesday, where they were received by Acting Director General Mohammad Al-Menai.

The visit falls under a broader cooperation framework between Petra and Gulf news agencies, in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), aimed at fostering professional exchange and strengthening media relations in the region.

During the meeting, Al-Menai delivered a comprehensive presentation on KUNA’s ongoing transformation, highlighting advancements in news production, digital platforms, and multimedia services. He reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to journalistic excellence and adherence to the highest editorial standards.

The Jordanian delegation toured KUNA’s various departments, engaging directly with editors and department heads. They were briefed on the agency’s modern newsroom practices and future plans to expand its digital and multimedia output.

Beyond media discussions, the delegation also immersed themselves in Kuwait’s cultural and historical offerings. At the Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah, they attended part of the 2025–2026 Cultural Season and explored an impressive collection of Islamic antiquities that reflect the depth of Kuwait’s heritage.

The visit also included a stop at the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), where the delegation met with the Secretary-General. They were briefed on OAPEC’s strategic role in shaping regional and global energy dialogue and coordinating efforts among Arab oil-producing nations.

While touring OAPEC’s headquarters, the delegation explored a building that serves as a cultural landmark in its own right, blending architectural influences from various civilizations and adorned with valuable artistic works.

The visit concluded with a cultural stroll through Kuwait City’s historic Al-Mubarakiya Market, one of the oldest traditional markets in the region, with a history spanning over a century.
