14/ Inflation Rises by 1.85% in First Nine Months of 2025
Amman, Oct. 9 (Petra) -- The Department of Statistics (DoS) released its monthly report on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), showing a 1.85 percent increase during the first nine months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. On a monthly basis, the CPI rose by 1.74 percent in September compared with the same month of 2024, and recorded a slight increase of 0.10 percent (less than one percentage point) compared with August 2025. Accordingly, the general CPI for the first nine months of this year reached 112.62 points, compared with 110.57 for the same period in 2024. For September 2025, the CPI stood at 112.74 compared with 110.81 for the same month of 2024, and 112.63 for August 2025. By commodity groups, the CPI rose during the first nine months of 2025 compared with the same period of 2024 for personal belongings, tobacco and cigarettes, tea, coffee and cocoa, fruits and nuts, and spices, flavorings, and other food items. Meanwhile, decreases were recorded in vegetables, dry and canned legumes, household utensils, furniture, carpets and floor coverings, and fish and seafood. The main groups contributing to the CPI increase in September 2025 compared with the same month of 2024 were personal belongings, tea, coffee and cocoa, fruits and nuts, and tobacco and cigarettes, while household utensils, fish and seafood, household appliances, and vegetables and legumes helped limit the overall rise. Compared with August 2025, the main groups that drove the CPI increase in September were vegetables and legumes, personal belongings, tea, coffee and cocoa, and fruits and nuts. //Petra// NQ
