21/ Minister Stresses OIC Cooperation to Address Health Challenges

Amman, Oct. 9 (Petra) – Minister of Health Ibrahim Badour said that the eighth session of the Conference of Health Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), hosted by Jordan in Amman over the past few days, marked a milestone in the course of Islamic health cooperation, with its constructive ideas and ambitious recommendations that strengthen joint Islamic action to address common health challenges.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the conference, held under the theme "Health is Our Shared Responsibility," Badour highlighted the participation of health ministers, heads of delegations, and representatives of regional and international organizations.

He expressed Jordan’s appreciation for the active participation of member states and partner organizations, commending the valuable contributions that enriched the conference discussions and led to the success of its sessions and the issuance of the "Amman Declaration," which reflected collective consensus on a comprehensive vision for developing health systems in member states.

Badour underlined Jordan’s commitment, as Chair of the Eighth Session, to maintaining coordination with the OIC General Secretariat and member states to implement the agreed recommendations through effective coordination mechanisms and joint health initiatives aimed at strengthening health system readiness and advancing universal health coverage goals.

"Our responsibility does not end with the conclusion of these sessions," Badour said, "but begins now by translating its outcomes into concrete action plans and practical health projects that serve all our peoples."
