Amman, October 9 (Petra) - Chairman of Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC), Dr. Muhannad Hijazi, said Jordan values ??and supports any approach or opportunity to achieve cooperation among oversight bodies and anti-corruption institutions at the Arab, regional, and global levels.

Hijazi added that this vision enhances efforts to combat corruption in all its forms and contributes to promoting values ??and principles of integrity and justice.

Hijazi's remarks came in his speech delivered at the First Annual General Meeting of the Asset Recovery Inter-Agency Network for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA–ARIN), hosted by Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The event saw participation of a number of representatives of international bodies and organizations specializing in combating corruption, money laundering, and asset recovery.

Hijazi added that the launch of this network is a "commendable" step that ensures members' communication to exchange information, , which would "ultimately" serve interests of the network's member states.

This effort, he stated, will strengthen joint cooperation, especially since the network was established in A vital geographical area located in the middle of the world.

Highlighting the challenges facing the region's countries, he called for concerted efforts to overcome and overcome them, mainly complexity of judicial procedures in some member states of United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), difficulty to directly link crime and looted assets, and disparity in legal and procedural frameworks in some countries, as well as the slow response of others.

On its role, Hijazi noted JIACC is following up on the issue of asset recovery in coordination with relevant Jordanian authorities, such as the Judicial Council, which has designated specialized judicial bodies and public prosecution office to examine corruption cases.

Hijazi also said the JIACC's "close" cooperation with the Kingdom's judiciary on recovery and management of assets retrieved through corruption crimes.
