  9/ Jordan, Spain Discuss Cooperation on Child Protection, Youth Development

Amman, Oct. 12 (Petra) -- Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa and Spanish Minister of Youth and Childhood Sira Abed Rego on Sunday discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation in various social fields.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Social Development, Bani Mustafa welcomed the Spanish minister and emphasized the deep-rooted Jordanian–Spanish relations based on friendship and mutual respect.

The minister highlighted the Child Rights Law, which provides a legislative framework for child protection, and outlined the ministry’s programs for children particularly in the nursery sector, early intervention services for children with disabilities, and support for victims of domestic violence, in addition to services provided to domestic violence survivors.

She also reviewed the ministry’s efforts to assist children in need of protection and care through programs offered for juveniles in the ministry’s care centers.

For her part, the Spanish minister stressed the importance of exchanging expertise, pointing to Spain’s efforts in protecting children from online and digital violence risks and in promoting youth community engagement. She expressed her country’s interest in strengthening cooperation across several social fields.
