19/ Energy Ministry, Amman Arab University Sign Memorandum on Renewable Energy Cooperation

Amman, Oct. 13 (Petra) – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh and President of Amman Arab University Mohammad Widyan signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday to enhance cooperation in energy policies, renewable energy, and energy conservation.

According to a statement by the ministry, the memorandum seeks to strengthen joint efforts aimed at achieving sustainable development in the Kingdom.

Kharabsheh underscored the importance of scientific research in advancing energy sector projects, stressing the need to establish a national energy research center and a specialized laboratory to support scientific and technical progress in this field. He noted that research and innovation are vital to addressing future challenges, advancing the transition to green energy, and improving energy efficiency while reducing costs and preserving the environment.

Widyan stated that the agreement aligns with the university’s strategy to strengthen national partnerships that promote sustainable development. He highlighted that the cooperation will further enhance the role of the university’s Renewable Energy Engineering Department, which is an active member of the American Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). This affiliation reflects the university’s commitment to integrating academic programs with practical applications and modern technologies in renewable energy and resource efficiency.

The memorandum provides for the exchange of expertise and knowledge in scientific and applied research related to energy, as well as the implementation of joint research projects to develop innovative solutions in alternative energy and efficiency. It also includes organizing seminars and workshops, exchanging scientific and technical data, and offering practical training opportunities for faculty members and students at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and its partner institutions.

Both parties emphasized that the signing of the memorandum reflects their shared commitment to fostering integration between academic institutions and the government sector, supporting the national energy strategy, enhancing energy efficiency, and expanding the use of renewable sources.
