Amman, Oct. 16 (Petra) – The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), supported by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), announced the launch of new training opportunities for 200 women from Jordan's four southern governorates of Ma’an, Karak, Madaba, and Tafilah.

Held in collaboration with Alhalat Developing Company, the training is part of the Building Resilience to Climate Change in Jordan (BRCCJ) project.

According to a joint statement on Thursday, the program aims to empower women leaders in climate change adaptation by training them on improving water use efficiency in agriculture and enhancing their role in spreading environmental awareness under the "Climate Wise Women" initiative.

FAO highlighted women’s volunteer work carries "powerful potential to create positive change" in local communities, as women are a key axis in climate adaptation and sustainable agricultural development.

The BRCCJ project spans seven years and is one of Jordan’s "strategic" projects for climate-resilient, sustainable development.

The 30-day training, which provides a transportation allowance, covers climate change adaptation and community knowledge transfer.
