10/ Amman Hosts Landmark Paralympic Swimming Coaches Training

Amman, Sept. 17 (Petra) -- Amman is playing host to a national training course for Paralympic swimming coaches, a milestone that signals a new era for inclusive sports in the Kingdom.

The five-day program, running from September 16 to 20, is organized by the Jordan Paralympic Committee in partnership with Swim Jordan Academy and led by national coach Sharif Lotfi.

More than 25 participants, from swimming coaches to students and fresh graduates of physical education, are taking part, underlining a growing commitment to empower athletes with disabilities and expand Jordan’s sporting horizons.

The course blends theory with practice, covering adaptive training techniques, disability classification, psychological and social support, long-term planning, and nutrition tailored for Paralympic swimmers. Experts, including Prof. Mohammad Abu Al-Tayyib, Dr. Tamara Al-Halaika, and Sharif Lotfi are delivering the sessions, ensuring participants gain both scientific knowledge and hands-on skills.

Adding to its regional flavor, the course also welcomes Palestinian coaches, reflecting Arab solidarity and the shared mission of strengthening opportunities for athletes with disabilities.

The Jordan Paralympic Committee hailed the initiative as a cornerstone in its strategy to build a comprehensive, inclusive, and sustainable sports system, one that not only elevates Paralympic swimming but also affirms Jordan’s role as a regional leader in adaptive sports.
