19/ Justice Ministry Pilots Digital Signature for Judicial Documents

Amman, Sep. 17 (Petra) – Minister of Justice Bassam Talhouni said that a pilot launch of digital signatures for judicial documents was held on Wednesday at the Amman Court of First Instance.

Talhouni detailed that the first phase of the digital signature service, developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Economy, will cover judicial letters and memoranda issued by judicial authorities in regular courts. It will initially be implemented in the Enforcement Department of the Amman Court of First Instance.

He underlined that the digital signature is an electronic fingerprint proving the identity of the sender for those who activated their digital ID through the Sanad app.

Talhouni noted the service will facilitate and simplify procedures, reduce effort, time, and operational costs, and ensure high reliability and security. Each document will carry a QR code enabling recipients to verify its authenticity via the Sanad app or the Ministry of Justice’s e-services portal.

He said that once the pilot phase in the Amman Court of First Instance is complete, the application will gradually expand to include all courts in the Kingdom. The second phase of the digital signature will cover all judicial procedures in all courts.

Talhouni added that the launch is part of the Ministry of Justice’s ongoing digital transformation plan. At the end of last year, the Ministry launched its updated e-services portal with 57 e-services, a number expected to rise to 100 by the end of this year.

This endeavor, he noted, comes in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah and as part of the National Council for Future Technology’s efforts to improve public services and facilitate procedures for citizens.
