30/ Child drowns, sister survives in rain-fed pool in Karak

Amman, April 4 (Petra) -- A nine-year-old boy drowned, and his 25-year-old sister survived after they fell into a pool formed by rainwater in the Qatraneh area of Karak governorate, The Public Security Directorate (PSD) said on Saturday.

The PSD spokesperson said the Civil Defence operations room in Karak received a report of two people drowning inside one of the pools created by rainwater. Specialized teams moved to the site and extracted them. The boy was found dead, while his sister survived. Ambulance crews provided her with necessary first aid and transported her to the hospital. The body was taken to Karak Government Hospital.

The PSD called on citizens to stay away from water pools and flowing water channels formed by rainwater. It urged parents to supervise children and not allow them to approach bodies of water and pools.
