25/ 11 nations condemn Israel’s diplomatic move in Somaliland

Amman, April 18 (Petra) -- The foreign ministers of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Bangladesh, Algeria, Palestine, Turkiye, and Indonesia have issued a joint statement condemning in the strongest terms Israel’s announcement regarding the appointment of a diplomatic envoy to the region of Somaliland.

The ministers characterized the move as a flagrant violation of the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

In the statement, the ministers expressed their total rejection of all unilateral actions that undermine state unity or infringe upon sovereignty. They reaffirmed their steadfast support for the territorial integrity of Somalia and backed its legitimate state institutions as the sole representatives of the Somali people’s will.

The diplomatic group further asserted that such measures constitute a clear breach of the principles of international law, the United Nations Charter, and the Constitutive Act of the African Union.

The ministers warned that the appointment sets a dangerous precedent that threatens to destabilize the Horn of Africa, creating a negative ripple effect on regional peace and security.
