40/ Cities and Villages Development Bank wins €1 mln German grant

Amman, April 19 (Petra) -- The Cities and Villages Development Bank (CVDB) has secured an international grant of approximately €1 million for its project proposal, "Financing Smart Technologies and Digital Solutions for the Transport and Mobility Sector in Jordan."

The funding is provided through the International Climate Initiative (IKI) Small Grants program, which is funded by the German Federal Government and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

As part of the project, the bank will launch a national competitive program to distribute sub-grants to municipalities, civil society organizations, and universities. The initiative aims to develop innovative solutions that support sustainable transport and smart mobility, empowering local institutions to adopt modern technologies that align with future development needs.

Wasim Al-Haddad, Director General of the CVDB, stated that winning this grant reflects international confidence in the bank’s ability to lead qualitative projects that support the "green transition" and foster innovation within local communities.

Al-Haddad noted that through such initiatives, the bank seeks to expand its local and international partnerships to accelerate the shift toward smarter, more sustainable cities. He emphasized that the project would enhance the capacity of municipalities to address evolving environmental and developmental challenges.
