19/ Arab League Urges Action Over Iranian Attacks on Arab States
Cairo, April 21 (Petra) -- Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Tuesday urged the international community to assume its responsibilities on the illegal and unjustified Iranian attacks on several Arab countries. Aboul Gheit's call came during an extraordinary ministerial-level meeting of the Arab League Council, held remotely to address the alleged Iranian attacks and Tehran’s obligations under international law. Talking at the high-profile meeting, Aboul Gheit said Iran had violated a United Nations Security Council resolution, urging Tehran to comply with the resolution and bear responsibility for damages, including indemnities. Rejecting any attempts to control the Arabian Gulf or the Strait of Hormuz, he said maritime freedom is "guaranteed under international law." He also reiterated pan-Arab solidarity with affected countries, adding any attack on an Arab state constitutes an aggression on all. //Petra// NQ
