24/ 11 Jordanian public engineers pass Project Management Professional certification exam
Amman, April 21 (Petra) – Eleven engineers from the Ministry of Public Works and Housing have passed the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification exam, accredited by the Project Management Institute (PMI). This professional milestone reflects development of engineering competencies within the Kingdom's public sector. In a statement on the occasion, Minister of Public Works and Housing, Maher Abu Saman, said this achievement embodies the "spirit of perseverance and excellence among the ministry's staff." He referred to implementation of ad hoc training programs in cooperation with the Engineers Academy for Training & Development. He said these programs trained 76 engineers in the PMP methodology and 52 engineers in FIDIC Contract Administration, from which the top 15 were selected to take the international exam. In turn, President of Jordan Engineers Association, Abdullah Ghousheh, noted the achievement of this new group of engineers constitutes a "significant professional and scientific milestone," which comes within the framework of the joint partnership with the Ministry of Public Works. Ghousheh added that the training program is part of a vision aimed to invest in human capital, which is the "key" approach to develop institutions, improve quality of public services, and enhance efficiency of resource management. On its role, he noted: "Engineers Academy for Training & Development serves as a national platform for qualifying engineering personnel under specialized programs that keep pace with the latest global practices." This achievement, he said, enhances engineers' ability to improve "institutional performance and raise efficiency" of project implementation. Ghousheh stated the next phase requires "greater" integration in training and executive aspects to develop a competent engineering system to address challenges and capitalize on opportunities. //Petra// AG
