33/ GAM Approves Cooperation Deal with Tashkent and Youth Football Training Program

Amman, April 21(Petra) - The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) committee approved a cooperation agreement with the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, during its seventh regular session on Tuesday, aimed at bolstering urban development and digital transformation.

Ratified under the chairmanship of Yousef Shawarbeh, the agreement establishes a framework for exchanging expertise in urban planning, road infrastructure, and public transportation. The partnership will also focus on city greening, smart municipal services, building inspection protocols, and the issuance of construction and professional licenses, along with broader initiatives in public health and environmental sustainability.

In a separate move to bolster youth development, the committee approved a memorandum of understanding with the Jordan Football Association. The deal will facilitate a specialized sports training program for children aged 10 to 11 at Prince Ali centers across the municipality’s districts, designed to enhance physical fitness and foster teamwork among local youth.

Addressing commercial logistics, the committee adopted recommendations to reduce administrative fines for Al-Swalem for Road Freight and Al-Aqd Al-Amthal Logistics. The daily penalties for delays were adjusted to 100 dinars, provided the total does not exceed 15% of the contract value. These adjusted rates will be calculated starting from late February, following the expiration of the companies' previous extension.

The session also finalized preparations for the 2026 ritual sacrifice season. The committee approved a plan to coordinate with the Veterinary Association to select 50 veterinarians who will oversee health and safety standards at designated sites throughout the capital during the period.
