5/ Dead Sea Hosts Season Opener of Jordan Rally Championship

Amman, April 21 (Petra) -- Engines will roar back to life at the Dead Sea this week as the opening round of the Jordan Rally Championship gets underway on Friday, marking the start of the national motorsport season with a competitive regional field.

Organized by Jordan Motorsport and backed by Zain Jordan, the rally will bring together 18 crews from Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Ireland, competing across a demanding course that blends speed with technical precision.

The rally spans a total of 252.22 km, including 86.72 km of timed special stages, set against the rugged terrain of the Dead Sea and Jordan Valley. Drivers will tackle repeated runs through Shouneh (15.25 km), the Baptism Site (11.24 km), and Ma’in (16.87 km), with the latter designated as the decisive Power Stage.

Preparations begin ahead of race day, with administrative checks and route book distribution scheduled for Wednesday, followed by technical inspections at the Royal Automobile Club training center to ensure compliance with safety standards. Crews will then take to the course on Thursday for reconnaissance runs, fine-tuning their strategies before the competitive stages begin.

The event features a mix of experienced regional drivers and emerging talent, setting the stage for an early test of form in this year’s championship.

Beyond competition, the rally reinforces the Dead Sea’s position as a key destination for motorsport events, combining challenging terrain with a distinctive natural backdrop that continues to attract regional participation.
