Zarqa, April 26 (Petra) -- President of Hashemite University, Khaled Hyari, inaugurated the 2026 Annual International Student Fair on Sunday, a high-profile cultural gathering attended by the Omani Ambassador and cultural attachés from Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Palestine, Egypt, Pakistan, and Oman. Organized by the Department of International Students within the Deanship of Student Affairs, the exhibition featured participants from a wide array of nations, including Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Iraq, Syria, Kuwait, Sudan, Egypt, Algeria, Oman, Yemen, Pakistan, and Senegal. Jordanian students also took part in the festivities, which this year saw an expansion of interactive activities and heritage displays showcasing the traditional customs and folklore of the represented countries. During the opening ceremony, Hyari described the fair as a reflection of the deep fraternal and human ties that bind students of different nationalities. He noted that the annual event has become a university tradition that fosters an educational environment rooted in respect for diversity and cultural openness. "This diversity is an extension of Jordan’s approach to embracing those who come seeking knowledge and ambition under the Hashemite leadership," Hyari said. He added that international students are the "essence" of the event, serving as ambassadors for cross-cultural communication and enriching university life with their creativity. The university president reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening cooperation with the cultural attachés of brotherly and friendly nations to ensure a supportive campus environment that enables students to achieve their academic goals. Dean of Student Affairs, Ayman Oliemat, stated that the fair serves as a civilizational platform showcasing the richness of the university’s cultural mosaic. He emphasized that the university views international students as active partners in its academic journey. The opening ceremony featured a vibrant parade in which students wore their national attire and carried their respective countries’ flags. The program included performances by the Fursan (Knights) Al Badia Band for Arts and Heritage, which showcased traditional Jordanian folklore and folk dances, as well as the University Choir, which performed a selection of national and heritage songs. //Petra// AF
