Amman, April 26 (Petra) -- Juliana Al-Sadeq, head of the Jordanian mission to the Sanya 2026 Asian Beach Games and a member of the Jordan Olympic Committee’s board of directors, expressed pride and gratitude for the trust placed in her by selecting her as head of the delegation.

Al-Sadeq, a former taekwondo champion, stated that Jordan’s participation in this edition featured strong technical displays, despite narrow margins that prevented several teams from reaching the podium.

The mission chief highlighted the beach handball team, which delivered a series of standout performances but narrowly missed the semi-finals. She noted that the tournament's format, which only allowed the top two teams from each group to advance, complicated the team's path. Al-Sadeq emphasized that this squad represents a distinguished generation of players who previously secured a historic World Cup qualification and that the Sanya games served as a vital station for gaining international experience.

Regarding the jiu-jitsu team, Al-Sadeq explained that the roster consisted primarily of young athletes brought in to gain exposure. She characterized their performance as promising and a key part of the long-term preparations for the upcoming Asian Games in Japan.

Al-Sadeq also commended Lydia Musleh for her performance in the aquathlon, where she finished eleventh with a competitive time. She described the result as satisfying, particularly as Musleh prepares for triathlon qualifying events ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

As the beach wrestling competition approaches, Al-Sadeq noted that while the sport is relatively new to Jordan, the young national squad is eager to compete and build necessary experience.

Concluding her remarks, Al-Sadeq praised the athletes' conduct and commitment both inside and outside the athletes' village, stating that they have served as exemplary ambassadors for Jordanian sports.
