  20/ Jordan, Azerbaijan discuss environmental cooperation

Amman, April 27 (Petra) -- Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman on Monday discussed with Azerbaijan Ambassador to Jordan Shahin Abdullayev ways to enhance cooperation in environmental fields to support sustainable development efforts and address shared environmental challenges.

According to a ministry statement, Suleiman stressed the importance of expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan and benefiting from successful experiences in environmental protection, sustainable natural resource management, climate action and green economy initiatives.

The ministry is keen to build effective partnerships with friendly countries in line with national priorities and the Economic Modernization Vision, he said.

Suleiman outlined key ministry priorities and programmes aimed at reducing pollution, strengthening environmental monitoring, supporting sustainability projects and improving the efficiency of environmental management at the national level.

The Azeri envoy noted the close relations with Jordan, and his country’s interest in stronger cooperation on shared environmental issues and the exchange of technical expertise and know-how.

The two sides agreed to move on with a bilateral memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Environment and relevant Azerbaijani institutions to establish an institutional framework for future cooperation and develop joint programs and initiatives in the coming period.
