23/ Amman to Host Internal Medicine Conference Wednesday-JSIM

Amman, April 28 (Petra) -- The 20th International Conference of the Jordan Society of Internal Medicine (JSIM) will open Wednesday in Amman, bringing together specialists from several countries to discuss the latest developments in diagnosis and treatment.

According to a society statement issued Tuesday, the three-day event is organized in cooperation with the UK’s Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, as part of a partnership that has continued since 2006.

The conference aims to promote continued medical education, update physicians in Jordan on recent advances in diagnosing and treating diseases, and facilitate expertise exchange with peers from various countries.

Participants will discuss dozens of scientific papers covering internal medicine and its subspecialties, including gastroenterology, cardiology, nephrology, neurology, respiratory medicine, endocrinology, diabetes, rheumatology, joint diseases, hematology, oncology, radiology, and infectious diseases.

Conference President Nayef Abdallat said the JSIM "takes pride" in its contributions to the medical profession and Jordan’s health sector, citing the pioneers' efforts, who helped advance the Kingdom’s position as a "regional hub" for health services and medical tourism.

He said Jordan’s health sector continues to build on its achievements by developing medical personnel and equipping them with modern knowledge, contributing to improved health care quality and stronger competitiveness.

Abdallat added that these achievements reflect competence of Jordanian physicians, their ability to overcome challenges, and their commitment to advancing medical practice across various fields.

He noted the conference will allow Jordanian physicians to present lectures, highlighting Jordan's medical progress, with about 60 scientific lectures scheduled.

The conference, he added, focuses on reinforcing the concept of continuing medical education and keeping pace with the latest scientific advances in disease diagnosis and treatment, particularly in internal medicine specialties.

In turn, President of the Arab Society of Internal Medicine Mohammad Ghnaimat said the conference is "important as a platform for exchanging expertise and reviewing the latest developments in the field."

A medical exhibition featuring companies operating in the medical sector will be held on the sidelines of the conference.
