25/ Jordan, Pakistan discuss strengthening cultural cooperation

Amman, April 28 (Petra) -- Minister of Culture Mustafa Rawashdeh on Tuesday reaffirmed the depth of Jordanian-Pakistani relations, highlighting their longstanding historical ties and close bonds.

He made the remarks during a meeting at the Royal Cultural Center with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Jordan Khurram Sarfraz Khan, stressing the importance of advancing cultural cooperation to strengthen mutual understanding and ties between the two peoples. The meeting reviewed ways to expand cultural cooperation between the two countries and enhance cultural and humanitarian exchange.

Both sides also discussed activating the cultural cooperation program for 2025–2030, signed during His Majesty King Abdullah II’s visit to Pakistan in November last year, with the aim of translating its provisions into practical initiatives and projects.

Talks also covered the exchange of cultural weeks, increased participation in major cultural events, including the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts and the Amman International Book Fair, as well as embassy participation in festival activities. Cooperation in cultural and creative industries and the preservation of intangible cultural heritage were also addressed.

Khan expressed his country’s appreciation for Jordan’s role, under the leadership of King Abdullah II, and its support for the Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
