35/ RJ to lease facility at Ghor Nimrin to streamline travel for West Bank pilgrims

Amman, April 28 (Petra) -- Royal Jordanian Airlines (RJ) has announced plans to lease a dedicated facility at the Ghor Nimrin pilgrims’ terminal to enhance services for travelers from the West Bank and those crossing the King Hussein Bridge.

Samer Majali, Vice Chairman and CEO of the national carrier, said on Tuesday that the five-year lease agreement aims to facilitate smoother transit for pilgrims and travelers, including those from the West Bank and Palestinian citizens of Israel. The move is designed to alleviate travel burdens and streamline logistics, particularly during the high-demand Hajj and Umrah seasons.

The initiative follows a recently signed agreement between the airline and the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. The partnership focuses on providing integrated transit services for passengers flying with Royal Jordanian to and from Queen Alia International Airport via the land crossing.

Majali outlined the company’s broader strategy, noting that the new terminal complements the airline’s fleet modernization and efforts to provide specialized facilities for travelers to holy sites. He expressed the carrier's commitment to supporting government efforts in delivering high-quality services to pilgrims arriving both by land and through the airline’s international network.

The agreement was signed under the patronage of Minister of Transport Nidal Katamine and Minister of Awqaf Mohammad Khalaileh. It was formally executed by Majali and the Director General of the Department of Hajj and Umrah, Majdi Al-Btoush.

Btoush stated that the collaboration with the national carrier is part of an ongoing effort to upgrade the infrastructure available to West Bank pilgrims. He added that the ministry is continuously working to modernize mechanisms that ensure the comfort and seamless movement of pilgrims during their religious journeys.
