New York, April 28 (Petra) -- The US Nasdaq index, which is heavily weighted toward technology stocks, fell 223 points on Tuesday to 24,663 points.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 31 points to 49,136 points, while the S&P 500 fell about 34 points to 7,138 points.

In commodities, US crude oil, West Texas Intermediate, rose by more than $3 to $99.95 per barrel.
