41/ GUVS Highlights Role of National Military Service Program in Empowering Youth
Amman, April 29 (Petra) -- The General Union of Voluntary Societies (GUVS) on Wednesday praised the National Military Service program for its role in instilling discipline and responsibility in the youth, following the graduation of a new cohort of recruits. GUVS President Amer Al-Khawaldeh stated in a press release that the patronage of HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II at the graduation of the first batch of national military service conscripts reflects the leadership's direct interest in the youth as the fundamental pillar of national development. He noted that such royal support serves as a powerful incentive for young Jordanians to enhance their self-confidence and pursue professional excellence. Al-Khawaldeh emphasized that the national military service program extends beyond military training to include the comprehensive development of character. The curriculum focuses on leadership, teamwork, and self-discipline, while reinforcing the national values necessary to build a cohesive society capable of addressing modern challenges. The union highlighted that these programs refine life and professional skills, which in turn positively impact youth participation in voluntary and charitable work. Al-Khawaldeh pointed out that voluntary societies act as incubators for youth energy, directing it toward developmental projects that serve local communities. Looking ahead, the GUVS called for concerted efforts among all stakeholders to empower youth economically and socially, asserting that investing in the younger generation is the most significant investment in the nation’s future. The graduation ceremony marks a significant national milestone, reflecting the state’s vision to prepare citizens who are capable of shouldering responsibility and contributing effectively to Jordan’s ongoing construction and development process. //Petra// AF
