New York, April 29 (Petra) -- The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 280 points on Wednesday to 48,861 points, while US crude oil, West Texas Intermediate, rose by around $8 to $107.97 per barrel.

The technology-heavy Nasdaq index edged up 9 points to 24,673 points, while the S&P 500 slipped by about 3 points to 7,136 points.
