7/ Jordan Condemns Escalating Settler Terrorism Against Palestinians in West Bank
Amman, Aug. 14 (Petra)-- The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs condemned the continued and escalating settler terrorism against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, most recently the attacks in the town of Qusra in Nablus Governorate, holding Israel, the occupying power, responsible for the assaults. Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Fouad Majali affirmed Jordan’s absolute rejection of the condemned acts of terrorism repeatedly committed by settlers against Palestinians, describing them as a result and extension of the extremist Israeli government’s policies. He said the attacks come amid continued unlawful Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank, which fuel extremism and violence against the Palestinian people and undermine prospects for achieving peace based on the two-state solution. Majali called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and compel Israel, as the occupying power, to halt settler terrorism, hold those responsible for crimes against Palestinians accountable, and ensure that they do not enjoy impunity. He also called for the realization of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, describing this as the only path toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees security and stability in the region. //Petra// MF
