Amman, Aug. 16 (Petra) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Sunday discussed bilateral relations and regional developments.

During a phone call, the two ministers discussed ways to strengthen the longstanding fraternal ties between the two countries in a manner that serves their shared interests.

They also discussed regional developments, particularly efforts to de-escalate tensions, restore calm, and enhance security and stability in the region.

The ministers stressed the need for all parties to commit to dialogue and diplomacy and implement the understandings reached under the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, including ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, to safeguard regional security, preserve gains made, and promote regional stability.
