23/ Jordan Food and Drug Administration, restaurant association representatives talk food safety
Amman, Aug. 17 (Petra) -- The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) met with the Jordanian Association for Restaurants and Sweets Shops Owners on Monday to discuss strengthening health practices in restaurants. The meeting brought together JFDA Director-General Rana Obeidat and the Association's President Omar Awad to review sector proposals and observations aimed at boosting food safety and quality, the JFDA stated. Obeidat said the JFDA is moving toward an electronic inspection system to strengthen oversight and traceability and reinforce confidence in food safety, which she described as a pillar of public health and a driver of investment, tourism and economic growth. The JFDA and the Jordanian Association for Restaurants and Sweets Shops Owners said they are committed to dialogue and coordination. They agreed to hold a follow-up meeting to track progress on the issues discussed. //Petra// NQ
