Amman, Aug. 17 (Petra) -- A total of 350 humanitarian aid workers were killed globally last year, including 186 in Gaza and 71 in Sudan, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said on Monday.

In a statement, OCHA noted that 2025 set another tragic record for violence against aid personnel, with 907 humanitarian workers killed, injured, or kidnapped worldwide.

Data from research organization Humanitarian Outcomes indicated that the 2025 death toll was slightly lower than the record 377 aid workers killed in 2024.

The UN office added that since the start of this year, 82 aid workers have been killed, 97 injured, and 39 kidnapped globally.

"More than 1,000 humanitarian workers have been killed in just three years. This is utterly unacceptable," UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Tom Fletcher said.

Fletcher stressed that condemnation alone is insufficient to protect aid workers, calling on states to uphold international humanitarian law, use all available means to safeguard civilians and aid personnel, and hold perpetrators accountable.
