Amman, Aug. 26 (Petra) -- Jordanian squash player Osama Batayneh is intensifying preparations for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, where he will represent the Kingdom in the squash competition.

The Asian Games will run from September 19 to October 4, with squash events scheduled from September 23 to October 2 at Nagoya Kinjo-Futo Arena.

Batayneh, 17, is following an intensive training program aimed at reaching peak technical and physical readiness ahead of the continental competition.

National team coach Saad Hijazi said preparations are progressing according to plan, noting Batayneh’s commitment and enthusiasm as he prepares to compete against some of Asia’s leading players.

Hijazi said the Asian Games will provide the young player with valuable experience at a high level of competition and contribute to his development on the international stage.

Batayneh has recorded a series of strong performances in junior competitions in recent months, winning several titles and medals as he continues his progression through the age-group ranks.

The squash competition in Aichi-Nagoya carries additional significance, with the gold medalist securing a qualification spot for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Squash is set to make its Olympic debut at LA28, making the Asian Games an important qualifying opportunity ahead of the sport’s first appearance on the Olympic program.
