4/ 'Petra by Night' Brings Rose City’s History to Life After Dark
Petra, Aug. 27 (Petra) -- Petra takes on a different character after sunset, as hundreds of candles illuminate the route through the Siq to the Treasury, offering visitors an atmospheric journey through the history of the ancient Rose City. The "Petra by Night" experience combines the city's archaeological setting with visual and cultural storytelling, giving visitors an opportunity to explore one of Jordan's most renowned tourism destinations from a perspective distinct from the traditional daytime visit. Visitors attending the nighttime show said the candlelit setting adds a new dimension to Petra, creating an atmosphere that highlights the city's monuments while presenting aspects of its history in an accessible format. Journalist Kathy Farraj said the experience successfully combines Petra's distinctive setting with historical content, giving visitors another way to connect with the city's story and heritage. Raad Raqad, also a journalist, said the nighttime atmosphere and candlelight transform the experience of Petra, allowing visitors to see its landmarks differently from during daylight hours. International visitors also highlighted the site's appeal. Mary, a tourist from Germany, described her visit to Jordan as a memorable experience and praised Petra's historical heritage and unique monuments, saying the ancient city deserves its status as a destination for travelers from around the world. For Noura Qteishat, who traveled from Salt, the event marked her first visit to Petra at night. She said the candlelit route and atmosphere made the experience particularly distinctive. Qteishat added that the show presented Petra's story in a clear and engaging way, combining an introduction to the city's history and significance with the experience of viewing its landmarks after dark. "Petra by Night" is designed to complement daytime visits by offering a different way to experience the archaeological city, using candlelight and storytelling to showcase its history and setting. The nighttime program also broadens the range of tourism experiences available in Petra, allowing visitors to encounter the Rose City beyond conventional daytime tours while highlighting its historical and cultural appeal. //Petra// RZ
