Zarqa, Aug. 30 (Petra) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration, Walid Masri, on Sunday inaugurated the Olympic Municipal Stadium, 2 five-a-side football pitches, and the Soldier's Park in the Jana'a area in ??Zarqa governorate.

These amenities are now open after being rehabilitated and equipped to welcome young athletes and park visitors.

During the opening ceremony, Masri stated the project comes in implementation of government directives to conduct "comprehensive" maintenance on the football pitches and the park.

Masri added that the initiative followed an inspection tour of the site by Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan last November, who instructed the relevant authorities to carry out comprehensive maintenance for the target amenities to enhance sports and youth activities and provide a natural and social space to serve the local communities.

In presence of the Ministry's Secretary-General for Technical Affairs, Mohammad Omoush, and the Acting Governor of Zarqa, Dr. Muhi El-Din Adwan, Masri said the main municipal stadium was equipped, in accordance with international standards in terms of length and width, and fitted with artificial turf and modern floodlights.

He also announced the surrounding track has also been renovated to meet Olympic specifications.

Masri also inaugurated Al-Jundi Park after its complete renovation.

During his inspection tour of the project facilities, the minister directed the swift removal of the old stands of the main Olympic stadium and their replacement, directing expansion of shade trees and green spaces in the park.

He valued Zarqa Municipality's efforts in monitoring and facilitating the project to ensure its rapid completion.
