9/ Prince Omar Honors Winners of Student Drone Racing Competition

Dead Sea, Aug. 30 (Petra) -- HRH Prince Omar bin Faisal, President of the Jordan Esports Federation, honored the winners of the second Hover U drone racing competition, which brought together school students in a test of speed, precision and piloting skills.

Organized by Jordanian drone company HoverUp, the competition required students to fly drones through a designated course, with results determined by flight times and the efficiency and accuracy with which competitors completed the route.

Mohammad Omari of Deir Yousef Secondary School for Boys took first place, followed by Hashem Abu Al-Ghanam of King Abdullah II School for Excellence in Madaba in second. Badr Bakhit of the International Academy-Amman finished third.

Prince Omar presented trophies to the three winners, while the remaining participants received medals and commemorative shields.

The students had undergone training through the company’s academy ahead of the competition as part of an educational initiative designed to introduce young people to drone technology and first-person view (FPV) flying.

The program covered drone control, takeoff and landing, navigating gates and racing courses, simulation racing and techniques for improving flight times. Training also focused on precision, concentration, rapid response and flight safety.

The competition also featured drone light displays and drifting activities at a circuit near the event venue at the Dead Sea.

On the sidelines, HoverUp held an exhibition showcasing drones and robotics products developed for educational and training purposes.

The company said the event is part of its efforts to develop technology-based sports and strengthen Jordan’s position in advanced technology and innovation.
