Petra, Aug 31 (Petra) – Deputy Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) Shaker Al Adwan said on Monday that the authority's new administrative system will enhance institutional efficiency and reinforce governance and administrative agility.

The new administrative structure, endorsed by the cabinet on Sunday, is the outcome of concerted institutional efforts and an in-depth scientific and administrative study of the organizational structure, he told Petra in an interview.

The study concluded that it is necessary to develop and streamline the administrative and functional apparatus to enhance coordination, communication, cooperation, and integration among various organizational units, he said.

The new system helps to achieve a clearer and more equitable and transparent redistribution of tasks and responsibilities, reducing overlap and duplication of jurisdictions, which improves the speed and quality of decision-making and raises efficiency in utilizing human and financial resources, Al Adwan said.

He pointed out that the new structure is an integrated framework for directing human and institutional resources toward fulfilling PDTRA goals, foremost among them is raising the level of services to visitors of Petra and enhancing its competitiveness as a leading world tourist destination.

Al Adwan pointed out that the new organizational structure took into account the modernization of the public sector and the requirements of the national economic modernization vision, as well as aligning with modern administrative and technological developments to ensure the authority's ability to meet the demands of the next phase.

The new structure also included the creation of specialized organizational units in line with the requirements of change, modernization, and institutional development, notably digital transformation, cybersecurity, logistics support, data management, information analysis, institutional development, human resources management, and sustainable development, said Al Adwan.

Under the shakeup, a number of units with similar tasks were merged to reduce conflict and duplication and enhance integration among the various components of the authority, as well as reducing the number of organizational units that posed an administrative and financial burden, given limited financial resources.

Yesterday, the cabinet endorsed the new administrative organization system for the PDTRA, its first organizational system since its establishment.
