28/ Jordan, Iran FMs Discuss Bilateral, Regional Tensions

Amman, Feb. 2 (Petra) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Monday discussed in a phone call bilateral issues and the situation in the region.

The ministers reviewed developments related to Iran’s nuclear issue, where Safadi emphasized the need to reach a solution through diplomacy and dialogue, and affirmed Jordan’s support of de-escalation efforts and achieving calm in the region.

Safadi reiterated Jordan’s firm stance on the respect of the sovereignty of states and the importance of adhering to international law.

Jordan will not be a battlefield in any regional conflict, or a launchpad for any military action against Iran, and will not allow any party to violate its airspace and threaten its security and the safety of its citizens, Safai said, adding that the Kingdom will stand with all its resources against any attempt to breach its airspace.

The Iranian minister commended Jordan’s positions and efforts to maintain security and stability in the region.

The ministers agreed to continue communication and consultation on regional developments and ongoing diplomacy to reduce tensions and promote dialogue.
