Amman, Feb. 9 (Petra) -- Independent Election Commission (IEC) Chairman Musa Maaytah said on Monday the commission is committed to building productive, results-oriented partnerships grounded in openness and collaborative engagement with stakeholders.

He spoke during the launch of a workshop, titled "Introduction to Electoral Administration," part of the Building Resources in Democracy, Governance, and Elections (BRIDGE) program, and was organized by the IEC in cooperation with the Arab League with support from UN Women, according to an IEC statement on Monday.

Maaytah told the ceremony that the IEC places particular emphasis on investing in youth capacity-building within the commission and across universities and educational institutions, adding that young professionals are central to a stronger electoral management systems, enhanced professional competence, and institutionalized best practices in electoral administration.

Ahmad Amin, Director of the Arab League’s Elections Affairs Secretariat, highlighted the deep and strategic partnership between the League and the IEC, noting the IEC’s leading regional role and its sustained focus on developing the human capital. The Arab League, he pledged, will continue to support joint efforts in electoral management and governance.

Bushra Abu Shahout of UN Women in Jordan stressed the importance of UN Women’s strategic partnership with the IEC, praising the commission’s focus on youth empowerment and skills development. She said the joint program contributes to enhancing women’s participation in electoral and political processes, alongside supporting youth participation, in line with recognized best practices.

The program is part of a broader series of specialized training to raise awareness of electoral processes, build staff capacities, and promote meaningful youth and women’s participation, consistent with international standards and leading comparative experiences.
